JUHARI SAID
Born in 1961 in Malaysia, Juhari Said is a prominent printmaker and visual artist who graduated from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) in 1983. His career spans over four decades, marked by numerous solo exhibitions, including Riak-Riak: Ripples and Shadows at G13 Gallery, Kuala Lumpur (2022), and international showcases in Japan, Indonesia, and Austria. Juhari has also participated in significant art fairs and international exhibitions such as the Asian International Art Exhibition, the Kuala Lumpur Biennale, and PRINT TOKYO. His work often explores expanded contemporary printmaking and has been presented in renowned institutions like the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum and the National Art Gallery of Malaysia.
Juhari’s accomplishments include prestigious awards such as the Anugerah Khas Adiguru ASWARA (2021), a major printmaking award at Salon Malaysia (1991), and fellowships from the Japan Foundation and the Government of France. He has served as an artist-in-residence at the University of Malaya and received recognition for his significant contributions to the arts in Malaysia. Juhari’s artworks are part of public collections at institutions like the National Art Gallery of Malaysia, Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery, and Ilham Gallery.
Juhari’s mastery of woodblock printing has solidified his position as a pivotal figure in Malaysian contemporary art, with his work exemplifying a harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern artistic exploration.
