G13 Project Room: Prominence by Raimi Sani

G13 Gallery is proud to present PROMINENCE, a solo exhibition by our local artist, Raimi Sani. This new series of works were produced as an exploration of the juncture of her life as a new-born child’s mother, who painted with love and care. Six works will be displayed in this exhibition portraying different activities or scenes of her son in a bed.

“The driving force behind these series is an enduring love for capturing crucial moments in life. Like blinking, precious seconds passed, preserving the memories like shutter speed from a camera—she captures those seconds. Her child growing up is such a momentous series of events.”–Raimi Sani.

Through her graceful fluidity and painterly brushstrokes, Raimi Sani’s practice is mostly about improving the understanding of forms and the attempt to achieve the adequacy of lights. It has become impossible to brush aside the fact that her technical ability captures not only proportions but also the audience’s emotions at a higher level. Retrospectively, Raimi’s work is best known for her grandiose portrayals of people whom she knows. It reminds us of how classical paintings were carefully produced in the past with ideal proportions, theatrical, and impeccable formal aspects. This is successfully presented in this latest solo exhibition of her paintings, which are made with passion and affection.

PROMINENCE will run from 1st March until 13th March 2021 at G13 Project Room.
