Surface Tension
A Solo Exhibition by Nicholas Choong
6 - 20 March 2021
G13 Gallery is proud to present SURFACE TENSION, a solo exhibition by our local contemporary artist, Nicholas Choong. Nicholas or Nicky (a moniker he goes by sometimes) conceptually explores one basic principle of science, the surface tension.
The term surface tension refers to the attraction of the particles in the surface layer of liquid towards another surface. For with artist mediums, surface tension is showed in paint’s property as it adheres to surfaces. Highlighting this interrelation of surfaces in his body of work, Nicky delves into an unfamiliar territory of his practice, which is by letting mediums’ transparency show through.
A go-to conceptual artist for agencies and various branding companies, Nicholas Choong is no stranger to the visual arts and design world. In 2018, Nicholas joined the esteemed Rimbun Dahan Arts Residency as a 3-month Southeast Asia Artist in Residence from February to April 2018, which culminated in his cityscape works – showing at the National Art Gallery of Malaysia. His works are now being represented by some reputable galleries in Malaysia.
SURFACE TENSION runs from 6 until 20 March 2021 at G13 Gallery.
