G13 Gallery is proud to present Borders Series: A Journey Between Movement and Serenity, a solo exhibition by Malaysian artist Suzlee Ibrahim. In Borders Series, Suzlee explores the complex relationship between movement and stillness, freedom and structure. Bold, gestural brushstrokes echo the energy of artists like  Willem de Kooning and Jason Pollock, while expansive areas of quiet color recall the meditative presence found in the works of Rothko and Frank Stella. These contrasting elements create a visual dialogue that shifts between chaos and calm.

The series emerged during the solitude of the COVID-19 pandemic, a period of reflection that brought about a renewed appreciation for simplicity and connection. A meaningful moment spent folding origami with his young niece inspired Suzlee to incorporate organic forms into the compositions, blending spontaneity with intention.

With over four decades of experience working in acrylic and oil, Suzlee approaches the canvas as both a space for emotional expression and thoughtful composition. Borders Series invites viewers to reflect on the idea of boundaries as points of connection rather than limitations, offering a layered experience that resonates through both visual impact and emotional depth.
