The Little Visitors
Nik M Shazmie
135 x 105cm
Acrylics and Industrial Paint on Canvas
2024
In ‘The Little Visitors’, Shazmie presents a playful yet thought-provoking glimpse into a future where artificial intelligence and robotics seamlessly take over domestic routines. What once seemed surreal is now a near reality, and Shazmie captures this shift with a vibrant pop-art approach, infused with humour, irony, and curiosity.
The work invites viewers to reflect on the evolving role of technology in everyday life. Are these robotic helpers a welcomed convenience or a subtle surrender of choice? With its cheerful aesthetic and open-ended tone, the piece poses a quiet but urgent question: in a world rapidly shaped by automation, do we embrace it by necessity, or are we simply left with no alternative?

Anti-Gravity Party

'Anti-Gravity Party' flips the world upside down in the most playful way. In this vibrant and cheeky scene, nothing follows the rules. Gravity is optional, logic takes a break, and imagination leads the way. It is a visual celebration of what happens when we stop asking what is and start asking what if.
With joyful chaos and unexpected twists, the artwork invites us to challenge the usual, laugh at the ordinary, and embrace the wild side of thinking differently. Why stay grounded when you can float? Why follow the rules when you can bend them into something brilliant?
Here, creativity is the guest of honor and fear of failure is left outside. 'Anti-Gravity Party' is a call to be bold, to take risks, and to enjoy the ride of exploring new ideas. When you turn the world around, you might just see it more clearly and have a lot more fun along the way.

Artist Statement
Nik explores themes related to personal space, the desire for control in one’s environment, and the contrast between the individual’s comfort zone and the chaotic external world. Nik seems to advocate for the idea that individuals should embrace their personal space as a sanctuary where they can exert control and feel free, regardless of external limitations.
The mention of references to the current system, impactful pop culture, and aspects of human nature suggests that Nik’s work is multidimensional and draws inspiration from various sources to create a rich and complex narrative. The reference to a “Hieronymus Bosch-like composition” implies a crowded and intricate visual style, possibly filled with symbolic elements and details.
The artist’s perspective on leaving one’s comfort zone is intriguing, as Nik seems to reject the traditional notion of growth through stepping outside one’s comfort zone. Instead, there is an emphasis on expanding the comfort zone itself, encouraging individuals to be brave and take risks within the boundaries they define for themselves.
The use of humor and a blend of reality in the artwork suggests that Nik may be exploring these profound concepts in a lighthearted or satirical manner. Overall, it appears that Nik’s work aims to convey a message about personal empowerment, courage, and the creation of a unique and expansive comfort zone.
