SCALED-DOWN @ YAS HOUSE
Scaled Down: Small Works with Big Stories is a curated exhibition that explores how visual strength, clarity, and narrative depth can thrive within a limited format. Bringing together 24 contemporary artists, the exhibition focuses on artworks that do not exceed 80 x 80 cm in size. Despite their modest dimensions, these works are far from minor. Each piece is complete, intentional, and designed to engage the viewer on a more intimate scale. In an art world often dominated by monumental works and grand spectacle, Scaled Down takes a different approach. It invites artists to work within spatial boundaries, not as a limitation, but as a framework for focus and refinement. What emerges is a diverse collection of works that command attention through detail, gesture, material, and restraint.
Scaled Down also serves as an entry point for newer audiences, offering an accessible and concentrated experience of contemporary art. It is a celebration of discipline, intimacy and the idea that less can often reveal more.

Komodozilla: Hero or Villain?
Aimman Hafizal
121 x 152 cm
Acrylic on Canvas
2025
RM9,800
The artist reimagines the Malay proverb "Malang Pak Kaduk, ayamnya menang kampung tergadai," which means a fleeting victory can bring great loss. Through the tale of a carefree Komodo lizard who takes one innocent bite of a magical fruit and transforms into the colossal Komodozilla, he illustrates how joy can turn to devastation. Hero or Villain? This work reflects how small actions can lead to irreversible consequences.

Rempah Ratus, Aroma Malaysia
Izzuddin Basiron
122 x 153cm
Mixed Media on Canvas
2025
RM9,000
"Rempah Ratus, Aroma Malaysia" draws inspiration from the vibrant TTDI Market, a beloved neighbourhood hub in Taman Tun. While the painting focuses solely on the market’s architecture, its quiet form recalls the vivid colours of fresh produce, the aroma of spices, the chatter of vendors and the steady rhythm of daily life. The title underscores the market’s role as the foundation of every Malaysian kitchen where diverse ingredients, like our people, come together to create rich, layered flavours.

I Got This from My Neighbour
Haziq Syawal
140 x 110cm
Acrylic & Oil on Canvas
2025
RM12,000
“I Got This from My Neighbour” captures the quiet beauty of a shared plant, a small but meaningful gesture that reflects the enduring spirit of jiran tetangga in Malaysia. In today’s fast-moving world, where genuine connection is often overlooked, such exchanges remind us of the quiet care that still exists between neighbours. The artwork speaks to how thoughtfulness and trust can grow from simple acts. What begins at home or across the fence has the power to inspire a more caring and connected community.
