Viewing Room : Unseen Conn3xion
G13 Gallery is proud to present ‘Unseen Conn3xion’, an exhibition that displays artworks from three artists who are friends, portraying their current lives or circumstances amidst the pandemic. This exhibition will bring to the limelight a number of artworks by three contemporary artists, Fadilah Karim, Shafiq Nordin, and Winner Jumalon.
Fadilah Karim (b.1987, Malaysia) is well known for her gloomy yet serene paintings made by her muddy color palette and painterly brushstrokes. Her works mostly depict the enigmatic expression transpired from the portraits of people around her; mostly her family or friends, as well as her own self-portraits. As for Shafiq Nordin (b.1989, Malaysia), his approach has always been more towards social criticism and this issue is reflected in his work which is akin to the styles of pop-surrealism. Winner Jumalon (b.1983, Philippines), on the other hand, makes art based on his precious memories and is a person with a keen observation towards his surroundings, which have always been his trajectories in art-making.
Focuses on these three artists, this exhibition revolves around the altering environment of these artists and how they translate these junctures into artworks. Though they are from a different background respectively, there is a commonality between the three of them, which is their keenness of expressing themselves in their artworks.
‘Unseen Conn3xion’ will be displayed on our online Viewing Room on our website; G13gallery.com and other social media platforms.
