G13 Project Room : Transformation, a Showcase by Hug Yin Wan
4 - 15 September 2017
Project Room was established in 2016. Project Room was initially created by G13 gallery as a platform to highlight new faces to the industry. Project Room also promotes new innovative direction of those who wishes to diversify their arts by venturing into new methods and materials. Project Room is in its fifth installment and G13 gallery is proud to present Hug Yin Wan, an emerging artist from Perak. Hug Yin Wan is the grand prize winner of Nando’s Art Initiative back in 2015. He already has a solo exhibition in his CV prior to winning the competition.
In ‘Transformation’, the artist highlights the concept of ‘Impermanence’ of life. The theory is inspired by Buddhist philosophy on the never ending cycle of life which has its own beginning and ending. The idea can be applied to pretty much everything (in general) which has two completely opposite sides much like birth and death.
Transformation will be featuring seven artworks from Hug Yin Wan. The artist believes in innovation as he set his focus on prolonging the variety of alternative printmaking. Rather than succumbing to traditional means, the artist explores simplest of material that can enhance the visual consumption of his art. Coming from his previous work, the artists integrated the use of Perspex and emboss paste into his new work.
Transformation is a showcase exhibition by Hug Yin Wan, a program by Project Room.
Exhibition will run from 4th September till 15th September 2017.
