Vessel
A Solo Exhibition by Caryn Koh

G13 Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition by a Malaysian artist who is currently based in Swindon, Caryn Koh. Entitled “Vessel,” this exhibition captures Caryn’s personal experiences by presenting juxtapositions of the female body as a metaphorical vessel. The female body is portrayed as a receptive void with its own unique methods of encompassing the world around it.
Intrigued in the study of Archetypal Symbolism, Caryn discovered that the origins of the vessel as a symbol could be traced back as a Pagan relic that serves as a manifestation of empowering feminine figures. This is often associated with the worship of women and mother goddesses (magna mater). Drawing from this research, Caryn aims to explore the body’s power by creating artworks that depict vessels as surrealistic manifestation of the human body, expressing certain truths derived from her personal experiences.
“Vessel” runs from 8 to 22 July 2023 at G13 Gallery.
