G13 Gallery welcomes you to a captivating journey into the world of art with “The Artist’s Studio: Exploring the Workspace of 17 Malaysian Artists,” a 300-page publication that offers a personal odyssey into the inner sanctums of 17 distinguished Malaysian artists. To commemorate this remarkable publication, we are thrilled to host a group exhibition featuring the very artists celebrated within its pages. This event provides a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in their art, witnessing creativity in its purest form.
“The Artist’s Studio” showcases the distinctive workspaces of renowned Malaysian artists, including Anisa Abdullah, Chang Fee Ming, Chong Siew Ying, Dato’ Sharifah Fatimah, Fadilah Karim, Hisyamuddin Abdullah, James Seet, Juhari Said, Khairudin Zainudin, Kow Leong Kiang, Najib Bamadhaj, Nik M Shazmie, Raduan Man, Rafiee Ghani, Shafiq Nordin, Suzlee Ibrahim and Wong Ming Hao. Through insightful Q&A sessions, you’ll gain an insight into how their studios mold and inspire their artistic processes, forging the very essence of their creativity.
The addition of guest artists Fuaf Arif as a writer and Dinn Diran as a photographer adds another layer of artistic expression to the project. Their contributions are likely to enhance the overall experience and provide additional context to the work of the featured artists.

Artist Statement
“A Taste of Memories” by Shafiq Nordin is a vibrant, pop-inspired cut-out installation that reflects the artist’s teenage memories of buying ice cream from a Chinese vendor. He fondly recalls collecting Pokémon Go stickers with each purchase, eventually earning a free ice cream after collecting ten. These stickers, featuring heroic characters, influenced his artistic direction, inspiring bold, larger-than-life figures. The artwork is filled with fun and vivid colors, showcasing Shafiq’s playful style and pop culture influences. It captures the joy of childhood memories while highlighting how they shaped his creativity and personal identity.

Artist Statement
“The Butterfly Effect” draws inspiration from the concept that small actions can lead to significant global shifts. As you approach, you’ll notice butterflies near the front of the geode vanishing, symbolizing the ephemeral nature of our deeds and their environmental consequences.
This artwork encourages reflection on how minor actions, akin to a butterfly’s wingbeat, set off chain reactions. Just as these ceramic butterflies fade, our actions affect the delicate balance of nature.
“The Butterfly Effect” prompts contemplation of interconnectedness and our capacity to impact the environment. It serves as a reminder that our choices shape the world, urging us to become responsible stewards of our planet’s future.
