MOSAIC BY TAJUDDIN ISMAIL
11th - 30th Jan 2021
G13 is proud to present MOSAIC, a solo exhibition displaying a series of recent artworks from our renowned abstract painter, Tajuddin Ismail. Within six years of making these works, Tajuddin’s works have indeed progressed into exploring new forms and processes, while the elements of nature and natural landscapes still remain as the major sources of his inspiration.
“Thus, the essence of nature and natural landscapes such as colour, form, texture, light, pattern and structures are explored to reflect upon the mystical phenomena of the natural world.” – Tajuddin Ismail
At times, he is also into music, cultural diversity, art and design, also humanity in general which enthused him in his process of art-making. Technically, the painterly gesture of ‘mark-makings’, dynamic visual structure and subtle colour nuance define the stylistic hallmark of Tajuddin’s works. In essence, MOSAIC is a poetic metaphor, expressing the concept of unity in diversity; a reflection of hope and harmony between humans and nature.
MOSAIC runs from 11th January until 30th January 2021 at G13 Gallery.

Inspired by the works of the famous Post-Impressionist French painter Paul Gauguin (1843 – 1910), who spent many years in Tahiti, painting the rustic life of the local natives, set against the charming backdrops of idyllic tropical landscapes. Gauguin’s muted palette of deep vibrant hues resonates with my own colour sensibilities expressing a feeling of contemplative calmness. `

A complex composition of textured and layered painterly ‘mark making’, this painting exudes a beautiful patina and a sense of ‘timelessness’.
