Gejolak
Solo Exhibition by Bayu Utomo Radjikin
7 - 21 Jan 2017
To start off 2017, G13 gallery proudly presents `Gejolak ’, a solo exhibition that features recent artworks from one of Malaysia’s leading figurative painter, Bayu Utomo Radjikin. Gejolak marks Bayu’s eleventh solo exhibition and his first under G13 gallery.
G13 gallery will be exhibiting seventeen paintings from Bayu Utomo Radjikin, ‘Gejolak’ is a solo exhibition that showcases the artist’s latest artworks that highlight his revisit to abstraction series of his. ‘Gejolak’ does not only focus on unveiling the artist’s latest body of work but also to celebrate the idea and dynamic expression of ‘Gejolak’ in its abstraction form.
‘Gejolak’ – the title framing Bayu’s latest non-objective art-capade. Gejolak, from its inherent meaning and Bayu’s take on it, is an emotive outpouring of a restrained force from within (of the helix).
Set against a black backdrop bouncing off shimmers of luminosity, broad mock-calligraphic swathes of satin sheen mostly in red and also in white, are swept with degrees of exertions for surface tension, revealing unwitting layers of under-painting and for an ambiguity of depth.
