DANCING HUES OF AN UNTOLD TALE

G13 Gallery is pleased to present Dance Hues of an Untold Tale, a solo exhibition by Calvin Chua, known for his brilliance in watercolours, has conjured up a most inspired interpretation of dance in a corpus of works, in acrylic and oil on canvas, and coupled with large drawing studies in ink and watercolours, in his latest sudden-turn excursion dedicated over a three-year period.

This dance series is a pleasant surprising turn from the sparkling vivacity and joie de vivre of his River Series and the romance of the Silk Route adventuring, camels et al. It’s an intoxicating brew where one can combine painting, dance and music, a sublime passion and expression in the arts.

The throbbing heartbeat in the dance repertoire lies is in the interpretation, treatment and execution from the media used in transforming and extending the parameters of what could just be a mundane act of capturing lines, forms and movement. The artist’s getting to crystallize a particular dance segment with his own choreography of colours, with the stamp of class, and in his own intrinsic style.
