Art Moments Jakarta is a premium art fair and a platform for local and international art galleries to network, educate, exhibit, and engage. During the pandemic, the first Art Moments Jakarta Online is introduced through a virtual platform where the audience could still engage.
G13 Gallery is proud to announce its participation in Art Moments Jakarta Online 2021, which will be held from 1 to 30 June 2021. We are showcasing artworks by 9 artists, including artists from Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand. They are Cheong Tuck Wai, Maharani Mancanagara, Mochtar Sarman, Nik M Shazmie, Nurrachmat Widyasena, Nicholas Choong, Shafiq Nordin, Sittiphon Lochaisong and Wong Ming Hao.

Artist Statement
More than fifty years of anesthesia is not a short period for victims and their families to inhale and endure the suffering caused by the crimes against humanity and the 1965/66 genocide in Indonesia. Unfinished business does not mean it should be forgotten. The violations of human rights that happened in Indonesia during 1965 – 1979 have been taken to the court of the International People’s Tribunal (2015) in Den Haag. The findings regarding the victims, perpetrators and witnesses have also been presented, resulting in several appeals that should have been carried out by the government. However, several years have passed now, and one would wonder was it just only to get our hopes up?
(Amicus curiae is a term commonly used in trials which means ‘friends of the court’, referring to those who have an interest in a case and present their legal opinion on the court.)

Artist Statement
The combination of the traditional and futuristic approaches in a new industrial pop-style by Mochtar Sarman, this series of artwork highlighted the charisma of heroes, consisting of the famous Kwan Yu, Sultan Suleyman, Napoleon Bonaparte, Maharana Pratap & Musashi. he has incorporated modern elements such as replacing the general boots with Air Jordan 1 shoes and also apply three-dimensional effects to provide an interesting visual experience for the audience. the whole approach is meant to be young & energetic although the subject matter is classical.
This series of paintings requires visitors to view through 3D-glasses that reflect the creative characteristic of the creator.
